Tostada Dominicana: Crispy Dominican Toast

Tostada Dominicana: Crispy Dominican Toast

tostada dominicana is the Dominican version of a grilled sandwich. Made with pan de agua, butter, cheese, and mayoketchup (mayo + ketchup), it’s a classic snack enjoyed at home, in cafeterías, or at the neighborhood colmado (corner store). Many Dominicans remember grabbing one wrapped in paper after school—it’s simple, quick, and full of nostalgia.

Traditionally eaten as a merienda (afternoon snack), it pairs perfectly with coffee, hot chocolate, or a refresco.
